Colenimo A/W 2011

Written by , Posted in Style

Colenimo released a preview of their A/W collection on Twitter the other day, and I think it’s brilliant! Inspired by “pioneering female pilots of the early 20th Century”, it’s having me seriously considering wearing pants again. Take a look:

The Garden project

Written by , Posted in My House

I love my house. About three years ago, we bought it from my grandmother, and have been refurbishing it ever since. It’s taken a long time, but I am so happy with the way it has turned out.

While we have done everything thinkable to fix, update and finalize the house, the garden has gone unattended, leaving it in a sad state. Trucks, diggers and heavy equipment had more or less destroyed what was even likeable about it to begin with. I always felt bad about that, and it was therefore with great joy and enthusiasm that we began work on the garden last week.

Since the garden is such a huge topic, I’ll keep updating the blog with our progress. For now, take a look at a massive work-in-progress:

(This will hopefully be a lowered seating area. For now, it’s just a hole in the ground)

(Welcome to Norways biggest sandbox! Needless to say, Maja is ecstatic!)

Divine Carousel

Written by , Posted in Art, Work

I love digital painting, but I rarely take the time to actually do it. However, I really wanted to enter the freestyle graphics compo at The Gathering this year, so I decided to finish a picture I started a few months ago: Divine Carousel.

It was fantastic doing something creative and totally uncommercial for once, and I’m quite happy with the result as well:

(You can see the full-size version here. :)

The quality-level in the competition was absolutely stunning, and you should really check out the rest of the entries (especially Babe Runner, the winning entry – such amazing goddamn work by Anne-Marte Markussen).

If you’re interested you can find all the entries here, and the full results.

Furiously happy

Written by , Posted in Life

I was supposed to do a hat-of-the-week post today, but you can’t really see the details of the hat so I’ll just do a yay-it’s-finally-spring-halleluja-post instead. It’s been snow here – and lot’s of it – since october (!), and I gotta tell you: it’s been tough. I’m just as used to long winters as your next Norwegian gal, but this one has been brutal. It was therefore with a great sense of childish wonder and joy that I stepped outside today with bare arms and ridiculously impractical shoes and embraced the wonder that is spring.

(vintage dress from Flashbax)

(We’ve spent the day at Maja’s grandfathers, and she’s been running around non-stop (for all the pictures I took I still wasn’t able to find a single one where she looks into the camera) making a mess and rediscovering the joy of dirt.)

Tattoo photography

There’s something to be said about the combination of great photography and tattoos. I’m really looking for smaller tattoos at the moment, but I keep getting distracted by lovely imagery:

Katrin Berge

Written by , Posted in Art

Oh my, these illustrations from Katrin Berge is making me giddy as a schoolgirl. I’m actually borderline obsessing here.. I think I’m going to buy quite a few of them and fill one wall with different sized prints. Take a look:

See more on her website or buy some for yourself from her shop.

Kiss me deadly

Written by , Posted in Lingerie

I did some impulse online shopping the other day, and got myself girdle from Kiss Me Deadly which I absolutely LOVE! Simple, black, retro-inspired with metal garter tabs… Shapewear never looked this good. Here’s a few of my favourites from the current KMD collections:

Shabby Apple

Written by , Posted in Style

In my never-ending search for dresses I came across Shabby Apple today, and I’m in looove. It’s so nice to see dresses with proper hemlines. I went to H&M the other day and it turns out I’m either too old or too uptight (?) to wear the current fashions. :)
