Vintage dresses

Written by , Posted in Style, Vintage

Husband got me a trip to New York to see the Daily Show for Christmas!(!!) I can’t wait! We’ll be in the states a few days in January and as I’ll probably spend my time trying to find the best vintage clothing stores, hat shops and lingerie boutiques in NY, it seems like a silly idea to do lot’s of online shopping now… (…) But if I were to buy something, it would probably be one of these dresses:

$119.00 USD

The Source of Christmas

Written by , Posted in Life, Music

For the past 16 years, the jazzband extraordinaire — The Source – has put on a fantastic christmas show in Oslo, called The Source of Christmas. Together with musicians from all over the world they play a packed three-hour-show of what they assure us is all christmas music. This years line-up inlcuded The Cairo Orchestra, Julius Winger, the ever-lovely Tora Augestad, and one of my current favourites, Kirsti Huke.

Kirsti, Tora, Cheb Hocine and Julius amonst others.

Crazy-Spinning-Man (not his actual name). How can you spin in the same direction for 20 minutes? Impressed.

For some reason I’ve seen two belly-dancers on two different occasions this weekend. This one far out-danced the other.

We met up with the lovely M and my sweet cousin Ida (pictured :).

My first night out with my fantasic Victoria Grant hat. Had to add these pictures of my outfit as I want to wear it everyday.

I’ll leave you with a little taste of our evening: The Source of Christmas, “Jeg gikk meg over sjø og land”, from 2007:

William Chambers

Written by , Posted in Hats

The other day I was searching the web for the perfect mini-beret when I came across milliner William Chambers. Not only does he have the perfect mini-beret, but his ready-to-wear collection also features exactly that, a lot of very nice and very wearable hats, that at least I could wear almost every day. I’m getting the beret to the left below (don’t tell Husband please, apparently I’m way over my yearly hat-budget), but honestly I wouldn’t mind owning every one of these beauties!

The pictures are borrowed from www.williamchambers.co.uk. Check the website for more hat-loveliness!

A tradition in the making

Written by , Posted in Food, Life

Friday I spent the day with the lovely M and her fantastic parents. We have made a bit of a tradition out of going to her parent’s place before christmas to [learn how to] make ‘lomper’, which is like a really flat, eh, potato cake. Very scandinavian and very tasty.

Lomper!

It’s sounds easy enough; you grind potatoes (twice), add a bit of salt, cut the dough in smaller pieces and flatten them on a surface covered with flour using a rolling pin. The real tricky part is getting your perfectly flattened piece of potato dough over to the griddle without tearing them. I can’t do this yet, but luckily our very own Obi-wan Karin was there to help us out.

M’s lovely parents (M is hiding her cute ass from the camera as always.. :), and me in an apron trying to work those.. wooden-thingies.

I am really loving this small tradition of ours and hope it will continue for years go come. I’m already looking forward to next year!

The view from the kitchen at Heimli

A bit of the view from Heimli. It’s located right next to the forest, and the place is so beautiful and quiet. It’s like coming home.

ID Sarrieri

Written by , Posted in Lingerie

So I’m back on lingerie..:) ID Sarrieri’s pieces are just pure perfection. I especially like the triangle bra featured on a few of the pictures below.. And the little lace blindfold that is popping up everywhere these days.. Just so decadent.

Check out the ID Sarrieri website and their shop.

(in)decorous taste

Written by , Posted in Home decor, Style

Lauren and Lydia Tennenbaum are the geniuses behind (in)decorous taste. They do interior and shoe design (a logical mix, if you think about it.. :) and I’m in absolute love with just about everything the do. So much eyecandy in one place:

How fantastic is this shoe?

Napkin rings from costume jewlery! my god..

You should check out their website and their blog for more information and more lovely images.

Winter

Written by , Posted in Home decor, Life, My House

When I woke up this morning the temperature outside was -20,5°C (better known as effing freezing!), Husband had already lit the fire and Maja was about to open her first ever advent calendar gift. I love this time of year.. the beginning of winter, everything is white and beautiful outside and having to huddle up while waiting for the fireplace to heat the livingroom seems like the most romantic thing in the world.

(My homemade advent calendar. Small badly-wrapped gifts tied to a branch on the wall..)

In about eight weeks I’ll be cursing cold Norway and wishing for spring, but right now it’s fantastic.

(I’m listening to Bugge Wesseltoft, It’s Snowing On My Piano, and if you want a bit of christmas spirit, so should you)
